Knysna Yacht Company Flagship Sailing Catamaran SV-Private Island Launched

Knysna Yacht Company, the world’s finest boutique catamaran builders, successfully launched SV-Private Island, their flagship 50-foot Knysna 500SE Sailing Catamaran.

The Knysna 500SE (Special Edition) model is a sporty, sleek 50-foot yacht with an arresting profile, presented in a total package of brilliant finishes, ultimate comfort, luxury and performance. With each Knysna 500SE boat-owners experience boutique customization, appealing to multi-hull enthusiasts.

Designed by legendary naval architect Angelo Lavranos, who has been designing vessels for over 40 years, the Knysna 500SE was meticulously planned to achieve the necessary space required to create luxurious ‘lifestyle’ interiors without compromising on performance or safety.

The latest Knysna 500SE SV-Private Island boasts numerous unique customized features including a roller in-boom furling system, allowing for safer and easier mainsail handling. The in-boom furling system enables hoisting, furling or reefing as a one-person operation, and the sail furls neatly into the boom protecting the sail from harmful ultraviolet rays.

In addition to this customization, SV-Private Island, also features a hydraulic dinghy lift platform. The platform is lifted by hydraulic arms, allowing for one-person to guide the dinghy into place. With the additional benefit that the dinghy platform acts as a swim platform, as it lowers half a meter below the waterline giving guests an effortless way to enter and exit the water for diving or swimming.

‘Private Island’ is also equipped with the latest energy-saving technology by manufacturers Whisper Power and Solara, including a 24-volt electrical system with Lithium-Ion batteries and solar panels.

Entertainment on SV-Private Island is at the forefront of this boutique customized catamaran, with a wireless entertainment system which includes TV’s in each cabin, as well as one in the saloon and another outside in the cockpit.

The utmost care has been taken into consideration with the Knysna 500SE when it comes to marine technology. SV-Private Island is equipped with the latest navigation equipment including the Garmin Chart Plotter 7416 xsv-J1939 (16 inches), Fantom Dome 24 (Radar Dome) and Garmin Panoptic PS51 Thru Hull Forward Looking Sonar. Giving the captain a bigger chart plotter, forward-looking Sonar and Chirp technology transducer.

SV-Private Island leaves Knysna, South Africa to make a short stop in Cape Town, South Africa before crossing the Atlantic en-route for the Caribbean where she will spend a season. From the Caribbean, SV-Private Island plans to cross the North Atlantic to spend a season in the Mediterranean.

From here she will be on show at the Cannes Yacht Festival taking place in September 2018. After this she will make her final Atlantic crossing towards Panama, crossing the Panama Canal and complete her final stretch across the Pacific and home to South Port, Australia.
